gives wings to flights of fancy and whimsical notions, evoking sensual images and exotic places: Rio de Janeiro, Ipanema, Corcovado, bikinis and panama hats. Beautiful people in beautiful places, living graciously, swaying to the sounds of the sea. Bossa Nova takes me back to my youth and simpler times; for Julia it's still the "new beat" that it was yesterday. In a culture of hype and overproduction, Bossa Nova is a breath of fresh air, a perfect blend of rhythm and harmony with the subtle cadences of Portuguese floating through. This album is dedicated to all the Brazilian musicians who understand the subtle things, with the hope that they won't be lost this time around.
